Why Prenatal Nutrition Matters

Why do I care so much about you and your baby?

Because YOU are the key to a healthier generation of kids.

That might sound crazy, but the science is finally catching up with what has been observed in traditional cultures for centuries. People who eat what their ancestors ate have generation after generation of healthy babies (and uncomplicated pregnancies). It’s only when they step away from these nourishing, real food diets that problems arise.

What you eat now can affect your child for the rest of their life.

It’s a growing field of research called “fetal programming” or “intrauterine programming.” And when you eat poorly, don’t exercise, or have high blood sugar while pregnant, it can potentially pre-program your baby to become obese and get type 2 diabetes in their lifetime. It literally changes their genes.

This means that these kids are predestined to have poor health no matter what they eat and how much they exercise. That’s part of the reason 1 in 3 children are expected to develop type 2 diabetes in their lifetime.

You have the power to shape your child’s future!

You can choose to give your child the best health possible by eating well during your pregnancy. And luckily the real foods that make this happen are not what you think.

I’m not talking about “whole grain” cereals, salads with low-fat dressing, or sugar-free yogurt. You’d be surprised by all the delicious food you can and should be eating that you might think is taboo.

My passion and purpose is to help mothers, like you, have the healthiest pregnancies possible so that the next generation of children grow into happy, healthy adults.

I’m here to help you enjoy the process and take away the anxiety of “Am I doing this right?”

Want to get started? Let’s do this!

More about me:

I’ve spent the majority of my nutrition career helping pregnant women, like you, choose the best foods to grow a healthy baby. I understand your fears about doing things wrong, the anxiety that naturally comes with a pregnancy, and the pressure (not just physical) that comes with carrying this growing human being.

As a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator who specializes in prenatal nutrition and gestational diabetes, I’ve helped hundreds of women have healthy pregnancies.

I’ve worked side-by-side with some of the top OBGYNs and perinatologists in the field, worked at the public policy level at the California Diabetes and Pregnancy Program, and spoken at major medical conferences addressing topics like prenatal nutrition, managing gestational diabetes with diet, safe exercise during pregnancy, postpartum nutrition and weight loss, and nutrition for breastfeeding.

I’m also the author of Real Food for Gestational Diabetes: An Effective Alternative to the Conventional Nutrition Approach.

And when I put my nutrition hat aside, you’ll find me in the Pilates studio helping expecting moms stay strong and gracefully adapt to their ever changing pregnant bodies.

So when I say this is a passion of mine, my resume speaks louder than words.

Within a few days on my LEAP diet, my energy levels were up, the diarrhea symptoms were almost gone, and so were my body aches. I knew I was finally on the road to recovery. After a month of eating this way, I feel like I have my life back. If you are ready and willing to get better, Lily will be there 100% to guide you through the process.
